5 Things to Film at Every Resort (Even If You Don’t Know How You’ll Use It Yet)
Have you ever come home from an amazing trip and realized you barely have anything you can actually use?
A few blurry photos.
Videos that are 3 seconds long.
And a whole lot of pictures of your food.
It happens to so many advisors. When you’re at a beautiful resort, it’s easy to get caught up in the experience and forget you’re also there to create content. And that content is what keeps selling the destination long after you’re home.
The fix is simple: have a short list of clips you film at every single resort, every single time. Even if you don’t know how you’ll use them yet.
Here are the five I recommend:
1. The Walk Into the Lobby
Arrival moments sell the feeling of being there.
Your clients want to imagine what it will be like to step out of the transfer van, feel the breeze, and see that first view. A slow, steady clip of you walking into the lobby gives them exactly that.
Filming tip: Start filming before you walk in and keep it smooth. Hold your phone at chest height and walk slower than feels natural.
How to use it: “POV: you just arrived at [resort name]” with trending audio. It’s simple and it works.
2. The Room Reveal
This is the clip your clients care about most, because it’s where they’ll spend their downtime.
Open the door slowly and let people see the room the way your clients will see it. Show the bed, the bathroom, the closet space, and finally the view.
Filming tip: Film before you unpack. A clean room with no suitcases in the shot looks much more like a brochure.
How to use it: A full room tour Reel, a carousel of room photos, or a quick “Is the ocean view upgrade worth it?” video.
3. The View From the Balcony
If the room has a view, capture it. And if you can, film it twice: once in the morning and once at sunset!
These clips are some of the most versatile content you’ll ever have. They work as backgrounds for text posts, as b-roll for tips, and as standalone “imagine waking up to this” posts.
Filming tip: Hold the shot for at least 10 seconds without moving. You can always trim it, but you can’t make it longer (without AI).
How to use it: Add a text overlay with a tip, a quote, or a question like “Would you rather wake up to this or your alarm clock?”
4. The Pool and Beach (With No People in the Shot)
Clean b-roll is gold for travel advisors.
A pool or beach clip with no people in it can be used for months, because it isn’t tied to a specific moment. You can put any text on top of it: tips, travel news, client testimonials, booking reminders.
Filming tip: Go early in the morning. The pool will be empty, the light will be soft, and you’ll have the place to yourself.
How to use it: Text-on-screen Reels like “3 things nobody tells you about all-inclusive resorts,” with the clip playing behind the words.
5. One Food or Drink Moment
People love to see what they’ll be eating and drinking on vacation. A quick clip of a cocktail being poured, a beautiful plate at dinner, or a breakfast spread on the balcony makes the trip feel real.
Filming tip: One great clip beats twenty quick ones. Take your time and get the shot, then put the phone down and enjoy your meal.
How to use it: “Rating the food at [resort name]” or “What I ate in a day at an all-inclusive.”
Bonus: Don’t Forget to Film Yourself
Scenery is beautiful, but people book with people.
Grab a few clips of you: walking on the beach, talking about who the resort is perfect for, or reacting to the room. These are what build trust and connect your face to the destination.
You don’t need to be polished. Just be you!
How These 5 Clips Become Weeks of Content
Here’s where it gets fun. With just these five clips, you can create:
- A resort walkthrough Reel
- A room tour
- A “Who is this resort for?” talking video
- A carousel of your favorite photos
- Several text-on-screen tip videos using your b-roll
- Stories that share your honest review
That’s weeks of content from a single visit. And because b-roll doesn’t expire, you can keep using these clips for years.
Pro tip: Create a folder on your phone for each resort you visit. When you need content, your b-roll library will be ready and waiting.
Your Content Is a Long-Term Investment
Every trip you take is an opportunity to build a content bank that sells for you long after you’re home. You don’t need fancy equipment or a film crew. You just need a plan and a few extra minutes at each spot.
Save this list for your next site visit or FAM, and come home with content you’re excited to use.
