July Virgin Voyages Social Media FAM Recap

When most people think of a cruise FAM, they picture ship tours, cabin inspections, supplier presentations, and a packed itinerary designed to learn every corner of the ship.

While we certainly experienced everything Virgin Voyages has to offer, that wasn't the only goal.

The Social Passport FAMs are designed to help travel advisors become more confident content creators while experiencing the product the same way their future clients will. Throughout the week, we balanced social media trainings with incredible dining, unforgettable entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to create content that advisors can use long after the sailing ends.

Our latest Social Media FAM brought 14 travel advisors aboard Virgin Voyages for four incredible days sailing from Miami to Key West and Bimini. Here's a look back at the week.

Day 1: Welcome Aboard

Our adventure officially began in sunny Miami as everyone boarded the ship and settled into their cabins. Some advisors immediately started exploring while others took a little time to unpack before sail away.

Before the trip, I put together custom door hangers for each advisor, complete with a social media content scavenger hunt on the back. Every Social Passport FAM starts long before we ever step onboard. I want advisors arriving with ideas, inspiration, and plenty of opportunities to practice creating content throughout the trip.

Once everyone had a chance to settle in, we met up for sail away with a glass of bubbly in hand. Sail away on Virgin Voyages is always one of my favorite moments of every cruise, especially getting to introduce first-time sailors to the Happenings Cast and the energy that makes Virgin feel so different from traditional cruising.

Dinner that evening was at Gunbae, Virgin Voyages' Korean BBQ restaurant, and it couldn't have been a better way to kick off the week. Interactive dining has a funny way of helping strangers become friends quickly, and by the end of dinner there was already plenty of laughter around the table.

Of course, we had to finish the night at the famous Pajama Party. Even after a long travel day, everyone showed up, captured content, danced a little, and embraced the fun before finally calling it a night.

As I headed back to my cabin, I couldn't help but feel excited for what the rest of the week had in store.

Day 2: Key West & Scarlet Night

Our first port of call brought us to colorful Key West.

The group headed out on a bike tour around the island that ended up surprising all of us. Even in the Florida heat, it was such a fun way to explore, learn about the history of the island, and see some of its most iconic sights. And of course, no visit to Key West would be complete without ending with an incredible slice of key lime pie.

Back onboard, it was time for our first official social media training.

We focused on building confidence on camera, talking through social media fundamentals, and creating a strong foundation for the rest of the week. Some of the best conversations happen during these sessions, and it was exciting to watch advisors already beginning to step outside their comfort zones.

That evening was Scarlet Night, one of the signature experiences aboard Virgin Voyages.

Everyone dressed in red before we gathered for dinner at Extra Virgin, then spent the evening exploring everything Scarlet Night has to offer. From live entertainment to unexpected pop-up moments, the advisors had endless opportunities to capture content while experiencing one of the most unique nights at sea.
